Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies its results. Canton Residents Directory does not retain a separate copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains the information you choose to include and is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services create customary logs, including IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time information. We review aggregate activity to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or similar tools may support ordinary analytics or advertising measurement where used.
What We Do With This Data
We use this information to operate the service, address problems, measure traffic, and improve pages. We do not sell a visitor list or construct individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
You may ask about personal information this site retains. Ohio does not have a broad public-record deletion right, and Ohio Revised Code Chapter 1354 is a cybersecurity safe-harbor framework rather than a general consumer-data erasure statute. Because the site retains little, a request generally concerns a contact message or available logs. Use the Contact page. For a public record held by an Ohio, Stark County, or Canton custodian, contact the office that created the record; its correction, redaction, or confidentiality rules apply.
Updates to This Policy
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated version.
